PLAXIS Monopile Designer is designed to help reduce the cost of onshore and offshore wind farm foundations by enabling more efficient monopile design. It incorporates results from the PISA Joint Industry Research Project into practical engineering workflows, allowing engineers to use less conservative approaches when designing monopile foundations.

By optimizing monopile dimensions, the solution can reduce the amount of steel required, helping lower fabrication, transportation, and installation costs. PLAXIS Monopile Designer also enables engineers to assess monopile resistance to lateral loads using a 1D Timoshenko beam finite element model. This approach provides accurate analysis for large-diameter monopiles and realistic soil reaction curves while retaining key assumptions of the conventional p-y method.

Research indicates that this enhanced design methodology can potentially reduce the required embedded pile length by up to 35%, providing significant opportunities for material savings and overall project cost reduction.
