What we do

Four kinds of subsea work

From the buoy on the surface to the pipeline on the seabed, analysed for the conditions it will really see.

ONGC drillships Sagar Vijay and Sagar Bhushan: Aryatech OrcaFlex model
Riser and mooring

ONGC drillships Sagar Vijay and Sagar Bhushan

Checked whether ONGC's existing riser could work at 265 m water depth off India's east coast, and designed a feasible mooring configuration.

ABAN Abraham drillship riser stack-up: Aryatech OrcaFlex model
Riser

ABAN Abraham drillship riser stack-up

Designed a workable riser stack-up for 625 m water depth off India's east coast, also analysed at 1,500 m, including the effect of stronger currents.

IOC Paradip single point mooring: Aryatech OrcaFlex model
Single point mooring

IOC Paradip single point mooring

Modelled the Paradip CALM buoy system in OrcaFlex, matched to the SBM model, and assessed the extreme response of submarine hoses, floating hoses and mooring hawsers.

Five more, by the question each job answered

HMELMundra SPM
The question

Recently installed subsea hoses failed. How should the new set go in?

What we didAn independent hose analysis, and a solution the owners could use to install new hoses.

OrcaFlex
L&TSemi-submersible plant
The question

What sea states can a floating plant work in, and what if a mooring line breaks?

What we didAn optimised 8-point mooring for a 60 x 60 desalination semi-submersible: anchors, limiting sea states, operating, survival and line-break cases.

API RP 2SK

The question

Can an existing pipeline be installed with a new method?

What we did690 m of existing pipeline re-modelled for the new method, with installation, abandonment and recovery analysis.

The question

Does the hose system hold up on an SPM moving fluids of different densities?

What we didAn independent subsea hose analysis of the Vadinar single point mooring.

The question

Which mooring buoy configurations meet ABS rules?

What we didDesign analysis of four configurations, covering anchors, buoys, chain, connecting hardware and hawsers.

How we work

From site data to a configuration you can install

  1. 1

Share the system and the site

Layout, vessel and hardware data, metocean data, and the operation you are planning.

  2. 2

    Agree cases and criteria

Load cases, sea states and the standards that apply, such as API RP 2SK or API RP 16Q.

  3. 3

    Build the model

An OrcaFlex or MOSES model of the vessel, lines, hoses or risers, checked against the manufacturer's data where it exists.

  4. 4

    Analyse

Operating, extreme, survival and line-break cases, or the installation sequence step by step.

  5. 5

    Report and recommend

Results, limiting conditions and a workable configuration you can take to the field.

Questions

What terminal operators and drillers ask us

Which mooring and buoy systems do you design?

Single point moorings, CALM and SPAR buoys, spread and jetty mooring systems, external and internal turret moorings, mid-water arches and metocean buoys.

Which software do you use for subsea analysis?

OrcaFlex for moorings, risers and hoses, OrcaLay for pipeline installation, and MOSES.

Can you check whether an existing riser will work at a new water depth?

Yes. We checked ONGC's drillship riser at 265 m and designed a riser stack-up for ABAN Abraham at 625 m, also analysed at 1,500 m.

Do you carry out independent SPM hose analysis?

Yes. We have analysed the subsea hoses at HMEL's Mundra SPM after a failure, at ESSAR's Vadinar SPM, and the hoses and hawsers at IOC's Paradip SPM.

Which standards do you work to?

The ones each job calls for. Recent projects used API RP 2SK, API RP 16Q and ABS rules for single point moorings.

Do you cover pipeline installation and decommissioning?

Yes. We provide technical assurance for pre-service, installation and decommissioning, including installation, abandonment and recovery analysis at Halul Island, Qatar.

Planning a mooring, riser or pipeline job?

Send us the layout, the site data and what you need to know. An engineer will come back with questions and a scope.
